As part of the Movies Houstonians Love film series, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) will be hosting a screening of the Japanese cult horror classic Hausu (House) on November 10th from 6-7:45 PM. The screening of the 35mm format of the film will be held in the Brown Auditorium Theater.
Screening on Halloween weekend, House invokes the spirit of the holiday. This hallucinatory head trip follows a schoolgirl who travels with six classmates to her ailing aunt’s creaky country home. Evil spirits, a demonic house cat, a bloodthirsty piano, and other ghoulish visions are all realized by filmmaker Nobuhiko Obayashi via mattes, animation, and collage effects. House is a memorable cult favorite that is hard to describe—and not to be missed!
This film is presented by Fareena Arefeen, 2016 Houston Youth Poet Laureate.
