In celebration of Japanese Food Month (Washoku Month) in November, JASH will be partnering with Shun Japanese Kitchen to feature how Japanese cuisine blends seasonal ingredients for a nutritious and beautifully presented meal.

Washoku has the UNESCO designation of “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” and is applauded for its traditions and respect for nature. Keeping the central pillars of Washoku in mind, Shun Japanese Kitchen has created a special “Tokyo Journey” tasting menu. Join us for this special dining adventure.

The tasting will be $65.00, not including beverages or gratuity.

Space is limited to fifteen (15) participants.

About the Menu: "Tokyo Journey"

Tokyo is the central hub of Japan where cuisine from all different regions of Japan combine into one melting pot, just like how Houston is filled with diversity from different countries & cultural backgrounds that make Houston cuisine what it is today. As any journey is adventurous, the dinner will be a six course blind tasting menu that is curated by Chef Naoki and his team showcasing some of their favorite dishes that are on the menu, as well as, one off-the-menu surprise dish by Sous Chef Dylan Thompson. The Tokyo Journey also includes a dessert flight by Pastry Chef Renee Yoshida. (Menu is subject to change).

About “Shun Japanese Kitchen”

Japanese cuisine is revolved around using seasonal ingredients as part of the culture and the belief of sustainability in nature. Shun Japanese Kitchen explores new realms of Japanese cuisine through the eyes of "2nd Generation Japanese- American". Everything has been curated by Chef Naoki and Sous-Chef Dylan Thompson to give guests the best experience, with the mindset of a Japanese kitchen. SHUN is defined as the peak of season, which Chef Naoki Yoshida uses traditional Japanese techniques & flavors inspired by Houston using seasonal ingredients. Every dish and ingredient that are selected are created to inspire guests to open new realms of Japanese flavor. Naoki’s knowledge has been passed down from his father who owns Nippon Restaurant, which has been a staple of Japanese cuisine in Houston since 1986. For almost two decades, Chef Naoki has been fine tuning his skills to bring something unique to Houston.
