Screening on Halloween weekend, House invokes the spirit of the holiday. This hallucinatory head trip follows a schoolgirl who travels with six classmates to her ailing aunt’s creaky country home. Evil spirits, a demonic house cat, a bloodthirsty piano, and other ghoulish visions are all realized by filmmaker Nobuhiko Obayashi via mattes, animation, and collage effects. House is a memorable cult favorite that is hard to describe—and not to be missed!
This film is presented by Fareena Arefeen, 2016 Houston Youth Poet Laureate.
