This October, the Japan-America Society of Houston (JASH) will support TABLE FOR TWO's Onigiri Action 2020 campaign, and we’d like your help. As we cannot meet together to create delicious onigiri in person, let’s help our community by creating onigiri lunch bags for children in need.
What is an onigiri?
Onigiri is the Japanese word for rice ball. One of the original fast foods of the world, onigiri were created to provide fulfilling meals to people on the go. Combining seasoned rice with a variety of fillings, there is an onigiri for every palette.
What is Onigiri Action?
Onigiri Action is an annual social good campaign in autumn connecting the simple act of taking a photo with helping to feed school children in need. Every time someone takes a photo of a Japanese rice ball and posts with #OnigiriAction, five school meals are donated to children in need around the world.
What is TABLE FOR TWO?
TABLE FOR TWO (TFT) is a global initiative to right this food imbalance through a unique meal-sharing program. First established in Japan in 2007, TFT partners with corporations, restaurants, schools and other food establishments to serve healthy TFT- branded meals. For each one of these healthy meals served, $0.25 is donated to provide one school meal for a child in need.
