HAAPI Film Festival: CHANGING SEASON: ON THE MASUMOTO FARM

  • Harmony Public Schools 9321 West Sam Houston Parkway South Houston, TX, 77099 United States (map)

Houston's largest celebration of Asian American films - HAAPI Film Festival - is celebrating its 12th year of sharing art, film and music from the Asian American Pacific Island (AAPI) community on June 9-11 and on June 17-18.

JASH is proud to be teaming up with HAAPI Fest to co-present CHANGING SEASON: ON THE MASUMOTO FARM.

CHANGING SEASON heralds a changing of the guard at a California peach farm famed for its organic heirloom fruit and visionary approach to environmental responsibility. Award-winning farmer and environmental writer David Masumoto’s parents purchased a plot of poor, drought-prone land dirt cheap following their release from a WWII internment camp. Over more than half a century, the family transformed the undesirable acreage into model orchards through innovative methods and conservation. Now facing a health crisis, David mentors his feminist daughter Nikiko, a Berkeley grad, to become a third generation farmer.  For a sneak peek of this feature film, click here.
