About Wa-Shokuiku
The Wa-Shokuiku free online program is designed for students studying at home. The course consists of 6 units(*) that focus on 6 different topics to expose students to Japanese food culture and food ways. Each unit has 10 short sections which include fun and educational videos, cook-off competition videos, nutrition, recipes, activities, global food issues, interactive comment boxes and a unit quiz. Our experts will respond to student questions and comments. Adults are encouraged to assist the students as needed, to register, cook, complete the course, and provide us with feedback.
We realize you might not be able to obtain all the ingredients for the recipes in this difficult time, but we will suggest substitutions and you can improvise or save the recipes for a later date. The cooking activities are optional but if possible we encourage you to give them a try.
This program is geared toward middle and high school students, however younger students can also enjoy and benefit from the curriculum, albeit on a different level.
*6 Units: Rice, Food from the Sea, Soy Products, B-kyu Gourmet (Popular Japanese Food), Sweets, and Bento.

About Table for Two
TABLE FOR TWO (TFT) is a non-profit organization addressing the related issues of hunger and obesity through a unique “meal-sharing” program. We partner with corporations, restaurants, schools, and other food establishments to serve healthy, meals marked with a special “TABLE FOR TWO” label. For each of these healthy meals served, a portion of the proceeds are donated to provide a school meal for a child in need. TFT works to serve healthy meals to both sides of the “table,” in order to right the global food imbalance. TFT started in Japan and we now operate in 14 countries around the world.
