ABOUT

JASH is pleased the announce the launch of Seishun 18 Leaders - a leadership journey that provides Houston-area high school sophomore, junior and senior students with the opportunity to explore Japanese culture and U.S.-Japan business ties in Texas.

Through interactions with leaders in the Greater Houston Japanese community, Seishun 18 Leaders will engage in and contribute to the furthering of U.S.-Japan bilateral relations while opening opportunities for leadership and life skill development.


PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Seishun 18 Leaders will gain:

  • access to unique Japanese cultural experiences

  • greater awareness of Texas-Japan business connections and important issues relevant to U.S.-Japan bilateral relations

  • exposure to accomplished industry leaders in business, science, government and more

  • insight into what global leaders value and look for

  • stronger appreciation for community, collaboration and diversity, and recognition of the importance of service

  • practical life skills, particularly in terms of collaboration and project-based work


COMMITMENT

Seishun 18 Leaders will meet biweekly from September 2021 to May 2022. The 9-month program will culminate in a public service project at Japan Festival Houston, at which Seishun 18 Leaders will collaborate on an activity that highlights Japanese culture.

Throughout the program, there will be assignments given to expand the Seishun 18 Leaders experience. Participants are allowed two absences from bi-weekly meetings. If a participant misses more than two meetings, the participant’s position in the program will be reevaluated.
