As we welcome the YEAR OF THE SNAKE, we extend our warmest wishes for a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.
We move from a year celebrating the Meiji Period and the founding of official friendship between the U.S. and Japan to a year focused on the future of our alliance.
2025 holds special significance for U.S.-Japan relations as we reflect on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. This solemn milestone reminds us of the enduring strength of our partnership—one built on mutual respect, shared values, and a commitment to peace.
In this spirit of collaboration and innovation, 2025 also aptly marks the much-anticipated Osaka World Expo, a celebration of global connection and forward-looking vision. This grand event will provide a platform to deepen ties and explore solutions to the challenges we face together in an ever-changing world.
Additionally, 2025 will see the first-ever U.S.-Japan Sister Cities Summit, a unique opportunity to strengthen the relationships between sister cities and celebrate the vital grassroots connections that enhance mutual understanding and cooperation.
Here in Houston, we will also be preparing to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2026 World Baseball Championships. To that end, JASH will be joining the community in welcoming the Japanese Women’s National Soccer Team to Texas for the SheBelieves Cup and celebrating the renaming of the Houston Astros’ home to Daikin Park.
While embracing these new opportunities, we remain committed to our core programs, including Oshogatsu (January 11), the Japan Currents Houston Conference (March 21), the Houston Regional Japanese Language Speech Contest (February 8), the Texas State Japanese Language Speech Contest (March 8), the Houston-Chiba Sister City Youth Ambassador Program, the Japan-Texas Educator Professional Development Program, Japan Festival Houston, and JASH BASH.
As we continue to focus on the quality of our diverse programs in the areas of arts and culture, business and policy, and education, we do not take for granted the support of you, our community. Thank you.

巳年の到来を祝い、皆様のご健勝とご多幸を心よりお祈り申し上げます。
明治時代に正式に樹立された日米友好関係を基盤として、日米同盟は今、新たなステージへと移行する年を迎えています。第二次大戦終結80周年を迎える2025年は、日米関係にとって特別な意味を持つ年です。この厳粛な節目は、相互尊重、価値観の共有、平和への献身を基盤とする日米協力関係のゆるぎない強さを私たちに思い出させてくれます。 こうした協力と革新の精神に基づき、2025年には、世界的な交流と先進的なビジョンの祭典である、待望の大阪万博も開催されます。この大イベントは、絆を深め、絶えず変化し続ける世界において私たちが共に直面する課題の解決策を探るための機会を提供します。 更に2025年には、初の日米姉妹都市サミットも開催されます。このサミットは姉妹都市の関係を強化し、相互理解と協力関係を促進する重要な草の根レベルのつながりを祝うまたとない機会となります。
ここヒューストンでは、2026 FIFAワールドカップと2026ワールド・ベースボール・クラシックの開催に向けての準備が進められます。その一環として、JASHは、SheBelieves Cupのためにテキサス州を訪れるサッカー日本女子代表チームを地域社会と共に歓迎し、そしてヒューストン・アストロズのホーム球場がDaikin Park と改名されたことを祝う予定です。 こうした新たな機会に加え、私たちはLevy Parkでのお正月-新年の祝い-（1月11日）、Japan Currents Houston Conference （3月21日）、ヒューストン地区日本語スピーチコンテスト（2月8日）、テキサス州日本語スピーチコンテスト（3月8日）、ヒューストン・千葉姉妹都市青少年大使プログラム、日本・テキサス州教育者専門能力開発プログラム、Japan Festival Houston、JASH BASHなど、主要なプログラムにも変わらずに取り組んで参ります。
私たちは芸術・文化、ビジネス・政策、教育の各分野における多様なプログラムの質の向上に引き続き注力していく中で、コミュニティーの皆様からのご支援をかけがえのないものと認識しており、心より感謝しております。
