Creative Minds Collaborative (CMC) will hold its first in-person and Zoom hybrid multidisciplinary art experience titled Re-Trace at Art of the World Gallery on September 6th, 2021 at 4pm CDT.
CMC’s first Artists Open House premiered on Zoom webinar during lockdown in May 2020, as a way to keep artists creating, staying engaged with the community, and sparking conversation surrounding current issues. Re-Trace is a continuation and reflection from the first series, drawing inspiration from a newly commissioned poem by Jacqui Sutton, Re-Trace.
Surrounded by exceptional contemporary artwork at Art of the World Gallery, the program begins with Jacqui Sutton’s recitation of her poem. Dancer/choreographer Hayden Stark, a former Soloist with Houston Ballet, will premiere his new work to Handel’s Passacaglia. Jennifer Mabus and Shohei Iwahama will dance to CMC director Nao Kusuzaki’s new creation to SENGOKU, composed by Kaoru Watanabe in 2020. Jennifer Mabus’s tango piece will represent the heartbeat to the program. Cellist Patrick Moore (of Axiom Quartet) will play live at the Gallery, and Kaoru Watanabe, an internationally celebrated composer and musician, will join via Zoom from New York City.
Through this artistic experience, CMC hopes to provide a unique live event to encourage positive connections as we shine a light on human connection. The Artists Connections Q & A sessions will open conversations between artists and audiences at the conclusion of the showing.
Venue seating has reached capacity, however viewing of the event is available through Zoom.
