About the Director
The Road to Tokyo Olympics is a rare collection of Olympics’ archival footage. The editing of this compilation was led by supervising director Ushihara Kiyohiko (1897-1987), one of the most influential Japanese filmmakers in pre-war Japan. Ushihara was famous for his early gendaigeki works (contemporary and stories set in a modern world) during the silent era of film (1894-1929).
