World Table Tennis Championships: Volunteer Opportunity

With the 2021 World Table Tennis Championships (WTTC) taking place at the George R. Brown Convention Center from Nov. 23 – Nov. 29, the Harris County - Houston Sports Authority (HCHSA) is looking for volunteers!

Both general and interpreter volunteers are needed for this special event.

今年の夏、2020東京オリンピックで大活躍した日本卓球チームが参加する、2021 World Table Tennis Championships(ITTF世界選手権ヒューストン大会)が、11月23日(火)―29日(月)に、ヒューストンダウンタウンのGeorge R. Brown Convention Centerを会場に開催されます。2020東京オリンピックのメダリストを含む男子選手5名、女子選手5名とスタッフの総勢41名がヒューストンを訪れる予定です。

ヒューストン大会の運営を行うHarris County-Houston Sports Authorityでは、現在一般ボランティアと通訳ボランティアを募集しています。

世界トップレベルの選手達が参加する大会で、あなたもボランティアをしてみませんか。

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older (check shift description for age requirement)

  • Must fulfill the three shift minimum

  • Volunteers 18 and older must complete and pass background check

  • Must complete volunteer waiver

SHIFT DETAILS:

  • If applying for an interpreter shift, you must email your qualifications/experience to Mackenzie Skrla at mskrla@houstonsports.org.

    • If accepted, you will receive a confirmation email.

    • If rejected, volunteers are still eligible and encouraged to sign up for other shifts.

  • All other types of shifts are automatically confirmed and it is assumed volunteers will attend each shift they have signed up for.

  • Volunteers must able to participate in advance volunteer orientation. It is currently planned to be done online.

Volunteer Certificates of Participation are available from Harris County-Houston Sports Authority.

About the Event:

2021 marks the first time the World Table Tennis Championships will be hosted in the Americas, and will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ping Pong Diplomacy. The best table tennis players from around the world will make their way to Houston, TX to compete for a championship title.

Adopting a revamped and expanded format for the first time, the flagship event of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), will feature 128 players in singles (Men and Women) and 64 pairs in each of the doubles competitions (Men Doubles, Women Doubles, Mixed Doubles) competing in a straight knockout format at the George R. Brown Convention Center.
