Noh (能), the oldest surviving form of Japanese theater, is a classical Japanese performance form that combines elements of dance, drama, music and poetry into one highly aesthetic stage art.

On September 13, you can experience Noh from the comforts of your home as the famous Japanese castle town of Odawara hosts an online event featuring Aoi no Ue (葵上). One of the first Noh plays based on the Tale of Genji, Aoi no Ue follows Lady Aoi, the wife of Prince Genji, who becomes possessed by the vengeful spirit of Lady Rokujo, the mistress of Prince Genji.

Noh artist Kanze Yoshimasa will serve as the Kanze-ryu Shite-kata (main actor) taking the stage along with ohayashi (Noh orchestra) and utai (chanters). The performance will be in Japanese, and downloadable foreign language guides will be provided..

In addition, Odawara's local taiko troupe "Hojo Daiko" and "FUMA NINJA Legend of ODAWARA" will take the stage.
