In partnership with QFest, the Holocaust Museum Houston’s young professional’s group NEXTGen will be hosting a screening of Asia’s top fashion photographer Leslie Kee’s ambitious goal of capturing images of 10,000 LGBTQs throughout Japan and supporting them through the “Out in Japan” campaign in Portraits of the Rainbow.
The film follows Kee as he takes the first 1,000 photographs, connecting the audience with two women struggling to raise their child in an unsupportive society, a young, gay university professor who continues to fight the stigma of HIV-positives, and a trans-gender man who strives to embrace his identity while mourning his late partner lost to suicide.
