George Takei's Allegiance is returning to cinemas nationwide for an encore on Sunday, February 19. This date is the 75th anniversary of Executive Order 9066, known as the Day of Remembrance, which marked the beginning of the forced relocation and internment of 120,000 Japanese Americans during WWII.
Straight from Broadway and inspired by the true-life experiences of Takei, Allegiance tells the incredible story of a family whose lives are upended by the internment of nearly 120,000 people, the majority of whom were Japanese Americans during World War II.
Allegiance stars Tony Award-winner, Lea Salonga (MISS SAIGON), and Broadway favorites, Telly Leung ("Glee", RENT) and Katie Rose Clarke (WICKED). The cinema event will feature and exclusive introduction from Takei, as well as special behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the cast and creators of the Broadway production.
Allegiance is smart, wonderful and exhilarating theater. Every American should see this show, let alone every Japanese American. Though set against the background of Japanese American internment, it's a moving and compelling story about conflicting loyalties, to country, to family, to oneself. It’s a story about love and about honor, with beautiful music, great storytelling, and a wonderful cast that entertains as well as educates.

When Allegiance began performances on Broadway in early October, it could not have anticipated how profoundly timely its themes would be.
