Sister Cities Galveston and Niigata are celebrating their 50th anniversary!

To commemorate this milestone, the Moody Gardens Learning Place is hosting a celebration that highlights aspects of Niigata culture. 

Try on a yukata and listen to the koto.  Taste sake and snacks made from Niigata koshihikari rice.  Experience a traditional tea ceremony.  Challenge yourself with origami and Japanese calligraphy.  Test your chopstick skills.

Prizes will be given to those who complete all the activities.  Moreover, the first 30 people (15 men and 15 women) to come try on a yukata will walk away with their very own!!!
