Since the late 1800s, Houston has received increasing numbers of Japanese American immigrants who have added to the diverse make-up of the city. While their numbers comprise a minority of the local population, their contributions to the city's economy, culture, and society reveal a special legacy.

Learn how the Japanese community has impacted Houston's history as The Heritage Society's Jerry & Marvy Finger Lecture Series presents From Rice Farmers to CEO's: The "Quiet" Minority of Houston by Dr. Abbie Grubb.

The lecture is being held in conjunction with The Heritage Society's new exhibition Asian Americans in Houston: A Kaleidoscope of Cultures, which provides an overview of Asian immigration to Houston through artifacts, photographs, and personal stories.  The exhibition is on view through January 16, 2016.
